Log 2: The Games

January 3, 2020

‘The Games’ are the fun side of gamification in CoRP. We have a lineup of 34 different types, but for now we’re focusing on LEO, EMS, and Racing-related games.

LEO

CoRP offers what's known as 'The Training Grounds' to LEOs of all backgrounds. If you want to test your skills or improve communication with your team then this is it.

EMS

Providing RP for EMS has always been an important goal for CoRP. Something we've noticed is the lack of engagement from EMS volunteers in the various cities we've visited, but that will hopefully change.

Racing

Racing is definitely at the heart of CoRP. The city will have various car meets on the weekend for people to share their custom builds. These meets will also serve as foundation for various games to begin.

Development Markers

This is an outline of what ‘The Games’ will entail. For starters, we’re focusing on a small list of games to host, which focus on LEO, EMS, and some CRIM activity. The idea for these games is to allow (a) CoRP to schedule them and then (b) they can be hosted in separate cities by their officials. An alternative is to register and join the event in the CoRP server.

The Training Grounds

The LEO Games will provide a simulation experience for participants (various cities) to compete against each other in. Our first game modes are 'Retrieval' and 'Clear Out'.

Retrieval - LEO

In 'Retrieval', a team is tasked with obtaining an object or person from the premises. There may be optional tasks that the participants can 'activate', but we'll discuss more in a detailed write up.

Clear Out - LEO

Clear Out is similar to Retrieval, but the idea is to 'clear out' the area. This game mode is influenced by time and precision more than 'Retrieval'. There may also be challenges to 'activate' in this mode.

Life Line - EMS

This is a game that can be used in individual servers. The EMS staff is given a special phone that only goes off when help is needed. If you can make it in time and successfully complete the task, you'll receive clean money.
*ring* *ring* It's for you.

Escape Route - CRIM

Using the 'Tracker', 'APB', and some supporting resource, this game tasks a group of racers to escape. Pretty simple. Make it to the assigned destination, with no LEO following, and you win.

Hide n Seek - CIV

This is a simple standalone game that takes advantage of the 'Safe zone' resource as well as some other environmental changes. Participants are tasked with finding a person within the allotted time.
